These long-exposure digital photographs represent ongoing life research on thick and thin existence. As we move, we disappear visually from one place to another. One could say, we end up existing as thin images in place over time, as a kind of residue, or conscious tracer. Remaining still allows our embodied images to stack up in place - to exist thickly over time.

My goal with this research is to record the emotions we project onto a life lived as a collection of thick and thin images, and with some luck, reveal to myself and to viewers our own small, daily moments of inquiry that take us beyond image-based existence without having to be in conflict with it. The images on display were taken from 2015 to 2016 in New York City and from September 22nd to September 28th, 2016, at Pembroke College and the University of Oxford Botanical Garden.

Many thanks to Pembroke College's MCR Committee for hosting me, Wang Di for producing this exhibition, Charles Harris for loaning Protest II for the purposes of this exhibit, Leng Lim and Home HC Nguyen for their support, Eric Thornton, Richard Steinbach and Greenpoint Photo Studio for their printing, Allie, Gareth, Veronica and the other members of the team at ISIS Creative Framing, Oxford, for their quick turn-around of excellent work.

Many thanks as well to family and friends for thickening my practice and presence while thinning my distractions and doubts.
